Bleach's first serious AAA arena fighter in over a decade swings hard on franchise authenticity - and mostly connects, even if the online playerbase has thinned out fast.

My first impression was that Rebirth of Souls looked like another Naruto Storm clone with a coat of Bleach paint. I was wrong. Developed by Tamsoft and published by Bandai Namco, this 1-on-1 3D arena fighter launched in March 2025 and does something most licensed anime games don't bother with: it builds its mechanics around the source material's logic rather than just slapping character skins onto a generic fighting template. The combat runs on a three-way deadlock of Attack, Breaker, and Guard, with each exchange demanding you read your opponent's intent rather than mash through strings. Layer on top of that the Spiritual Pressure moves, character-specific signature abilities, and a Reverse system with distinct variants - Chain Reverse for extending combos, Blue Reverse for countering and launching, and Soul Reverse for recovering health mid-fight - and you have a surprisingly layered toolkit that rewards time in Training mode. The story content is the main draw for solo players. The Main Story runs from the Substitute Soul Reaper arc through to the conclusion of the Arrancar arc, bookended by fully voiced cutscenes that go considerably longer than the genre standard. Beyond that, Secret Story episodes retell key events from individual character perspectives, and Side Episodes cover lighter, daily-life moments that fans of the series will appreciate. The roster ships with 32 characters at base, including two Ichigo variants, with four more from the Thousand-Year Blood War arc slated via Season Pass. If you are coming for the Quincy war, you are not getting it in the base game yet - that is the honest truth about the current package. Combat feels genuinely satisfying when it clicks. Triggering an Awakening or Bankai mid-fight is exactly as cinematic as you would hope, and the character movesets reflect their anime abilities in ways that feel earned rather than cosmetic. The rough edges are real, though. The three-way deadlock can devolve into a guessing game at its simplest level, and some players will find the binary read-or-lose moments more frustrating than thrilling. Mission Mode works well as an offline progression loop - survival-style waves that earn Soul Points for spending at Urahara's Shop on cosmetics and Spirit Talismans - but the grind to unlock content has been flagged as heavier than it should be. On the visual side, cutscene animation relies heavily on quick cuts and black screens to mask complex action, which cheapens some of the story's bigger moments. The online situation deserves a straight answer: playercount on PC has dropped significantly since launch, and the game ships without a ranked ladder. Free Match and Room Match exist, but finding consistent competition without friends to queue with is a real obstacle. This is primarily a single-player and local-versus experience at this point. If that is the game you want, the story mode alone justifies the time investment for any Bleach fan, and even newcomers curious about the series will find a coherent entry point. For competitive players hunting an active online scene, the picture is less encouraging. Alex, Scout Team

Veredicto de GamerScout

Best for Bleach fans and single-player-focused arena fighter fans; online players should temper expectations given the thin PC playerbase.
