Wait for a sale or buy now? The Red Dead Redemption 2 price history actually answers that for you, and the answer is less exciting than the wait normally is.
Prices verified from our live price database on July 19, 2026.
I keep a running column of price floors for every big title I follow, and RDR2 is one of those games where the floor stopped moving months ago. So this is a short decision, not a long one. Let me lay out the numbers, then give you the call.
The price journey
Start at the top. Red Dead Redemption 2's highest list price on our books is EUR99.99, which is where the RRP anchor sits. Against that number, everything below looks like a fire sale, so I ignore the RRP and watch the actual floor instead.
Through June, the tracked price sat flat at EUR11.74 for weeks. Same reading on the 5th, the 10th, the 16th, the 21st. Then on 2026-06-23 it dipped to EUR8.52 and held there briefly, which is the lowest snapshot we have ever recorded. By mid-July the floor settled at EUR11.59, where it has stayed through the 15th, 17th and 19th.
That is the whole story: a stable low-double-digit price, one short dip, and a return to roughly the same level. This is not a game with wild swing cycles. It is a game with a floor.
One housekeeping note so the numbers do not mislead you. The EUR8.52 is a tracked historical reading, not necessarily buyable right now. It tells you how low the floor has gone; it does not mean a store will sell it to you at that price today. The number you can actually act on is EUR11.59.
The sale pattern
Here is how the live board looks right now across six stores:
| Store | Price (EUR) | Type | Trust |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kinguin | 11.59 | keyshop | 85 |
| YuPlay | 12.13 | keyshop | 65 |
| Gamivo | 12.59 | keyshop | 72 |
| Eneba | 12.68 | keyshop | 80 |
| IndieGala | 19.99 | official | 85 |
| GameBillet | 85.49 | official | 92 |
Two things jump out. First, the keyshops are bunched inside a single euro of each other, from EUR11.59 to EUR12.68. When four sellers cluster that tightly, you are looking at a settled market price, not a discount waiting to break. Second, Kinguin happens to be both the cheapest and the highest-trust keyshop in that cluster at 85/100, which makes the top-of-list choice an easy one here.
The official listings tell the other half of the pattern. IndieGala is at EUR19.99 and GameBillet at EUR85.49, so the official channel is not where the value lives for this title today. If you specifically want an official-store purchase, IndieGala (trust 85) is the sane pick; if you just want the lowest price, the keyshops win by a comfortable margin.
What the pattern does not show is a deep seasonal crash. The one dip to EUR8.52 was brief and shallow relative to the everyday price. There is no evidence of a big future drop below the current floor, so treating this like a game that will halve in a sale is the wrong model.
Is now a good time?
Run the math plainly. Current cheapest is EUR11.59. The best price we have ever tracked is EUR8.52. The difference is EUR3.07. That is the entire upside of waiting, and only if the floor returns to a reading that was already a short-lived outlier.
Against that thin upside, weigh what you are buying. Red Dead Redemption 2 holds a Metacritic score of 93, and on Steam it sits at 92% positive across 897,416 reviews. This is a long, dense single-player game (the kind of playtime where I usually tell newcomers not to panic about the size). You do not need to master every mechanic on day one. Ride, hunt, follow the story missions, and let the deeper systems reveal themselves at your own pace. At roughly EUR11.59 for that much content, the cost-per-hour is absurd in your favour.
So the verdict is straightforward. You are already within about EUR3 of the all-time low, the price has been stable for weeks, and the sale you are waiting for essentially already happened in June. Buy now. Holding out for a repeat of EUR8.52 means betting real waiting time against a saving smaller than a coffee.
If you want the open world without the campaign, Red Dead Online is the multiplayer companion worth a look. And when you are done and want something completely different, our writeup on Not For Broadcast is a good palate cleanser.
Check the live board before you buy, because the floor can shift by a few cents day to day. Our Red Dead Redemption 2 page tracks all six stores in real time.
