Compare Tropico 5 - T-Day prices across trusted key stores and find the best deal. Developed by Haemimont Games. Published by Kalypso Media Digital. Released on 5/23/2014. Available on PC. Genres: RPG, Simulation, Strategy. Metacritic score: 75/100.

A 2014 banana-republic sandbox that lets you build a dynasty across centuries, now with multiplayer teeth and research trees that actually matter.

I've always appreciated Tropico's willingness to let you fail spectacularly. T-Day strips away some of the series' complexity in favour of longer campaigns spanning colonial times to the future, but trades nothing essential. The core loop remains intact: balance tourism, trade, and military might while your citizens grumble about everything. New tech trees add real strategic fork-roads (authoritarian versus democratic paths change which buildings you can construct), and the multiplayer modes - cooperative island-building or competitive trade wars - give the sandbox actual friction against human opponents rather than predictable AI. The AI itself is competent but not brilliant; expect colonial-era opponents to make predictable economic choices by the 21st century. Tutorial pacing assumes you've played a Tropico game before, which might frustrate total newcomers, but anyone comfortable with resource management sims will recognize the rhythm instantly. It's not a revolution, but T-Day delivers exactly what the premise promises: generational kingdom-building with enough mechanical depth to support 40-50 hours of island despotism. Diego, Scout Team

Solid for strategy fans seeking long-form multiplayer sandbox play, weak if you expect deep AI opponents or tutorial hand-holding.
