GamerScout Verdict
Essential for fight stick owners and SNK franchise veterans; tough entry point for button-mashers.

About The King of Fighters XV
I've spent enough time with KOF XV to know this: if you grew up on Street Fighter or Guilty Gear, the command inputs and footsie spacing here will feel immediately familiar, but SNK's three-on-three team format adds a layer of strategy most 1v1 fighters skip. You pick a squad, each character brings their own moveset and super meter mechanics, and swaps are baked into the flow of combat. The roster is solid, netplay runs clean thanks to rollback implementation, and arcade mode feeds that old-school "beat the CPU gauntlet" dopamine hit. The learning curve is steep if you're coming from modern fighting game tutorials, and the UI could be friendlier for newcomers. KOF XV doesn't hold your hand, but that's kind of the point. This is a game for people who want to learn, lab combos, and compete. If that's your speed, the depth is real.
