It's lighter than Paradox's grand-strategy machinery but still rewards planning: positioning matters, resource allocation stings when you misjudge it, and your spell loadout shapes how you approach each encounter. The tutorial respects your time without hand-holding endlessly, and the modular nature of ship composition gives you real agency in how you prosecute naval campaigns. The tradeoff is scope. This isn't a 200-hour sandbox where you paint the map your color. Instead, it's a tighter, 20-30 hour voyage that knows what it is. Expect turn-based fleet battles, resource juggling between expeditions, and spell-crafting decisions that matter more than raw naval tonnage.
