Enslaved: Odyssey to the West Premium Edition
A 2013 action-adventure with surprisingly sharp writing and character chemistry that punches above its mechanical weight in a forgettable post-apocalyptic setting.
GamerScout Verdict
Best for players who value writing and character chemistry over mechanical innovation in a tight 8-hour campaign.

About Enslaved: Odyssey to the West Premium Edition
I went in expecting generic post-apocalypse filler and got blindsided by how much I cared about Monkey and Trip's banter. Ninja Theory wove genuine wit and tension into their relationship, making the 8-hour campaign feel personal despite the familiar wasteland premise. Combat is straightforward hack-and-slash with environmental puzzle breaks, nothing revolutionary, but competent enough to keep pace with the narrative. The camera can be stubborn, and the difficulty curve drops off hard in act two. Some puzzles feel padded, and the climbing sections are functional rather than engaging. But if you want a lean, story-driven action game where the writing justifies the runtime, this sits comfortably above the clutter. It's not a masterpiece, but it's genuine craft.
