GamerScout Verdict
A nostalgia play that doesn't quite land; co-op might salvage it for dedicated fans of the original.

About Cannon Fodder 3
I went in expecting a spiritual successor to the '90s classic, and Cannon Fodder 3 does nail the core loop: pick squads of cannon fodder soldiers, position them across isometric battlefields, and mow down enemy waves. The art style holds up reasonably well, and co-op adds some value if you've got a friend willing to commit. Where it falls apart is the execution. The controls feel sluggish, unit AI is dumb enough to get your troops killed for you, and the mission design leans on repetition rather than the tactical depth the original promised. At 55% positive reviews and a Metacritic of 49, this is a game chasing a legacy it can't quite catch. Skip this unless you're specifically hunting for co-op tactical action on a budget and have very patient expectations. The bones are there, but the meat never quite came together.
