Compare Bone: The Great Cow Race prices across trusted key stores and find the best deal. Developed by Telltale Games. Available on PC.

A point-and-click adventure built on Telltale's dialogue-heavy formula, adapted from Jeff Smith's indie comic series. Charming if you're already a Bone fan, but dated controls and predictable puzzle design won't grab newcomers.

I went in expecting a faithful adaptation of the Bone comics, and what I got was Telltale doing what Telltale does best in the mid-2000s: lots of talking, inventory puzzles you'll solve by clicking everything, and branching dialogue that mostly leads to the same place. The voice acting carries the comedy, and the art style mirrors Smith's ink work reasonably well. If you've read the source material, there's charm here in seeing these characters move and speak. That said, the game feels stiff compared to adventure titles that came before or after it. Puzzle logic is straightforward to the point of tedium, and the pacing drags when you're backtracking to find that one item you missed. It's very much a fan project wrapped in Telltale's mechanics, not a bold reimagining. Worth a revisit if nostalgia pulls you back, but don't expect it to rival the comics. Alex, Scout Team

GamerScout Verdict

A fan-friendly but creaky adaptation best suited to Bone comic devotees with patience for early-2000s adventure game friction.
