Yami Kids

Yami Kids caught my attention because it's explicitly about something most games avoid: grief-fueled vengeance with actual mechanical teeth. You're not the Chosen One. You're two kids with a reason to fight, and the game leans into that framing through Shadow Duels (which I assume are turn-based battles against rival trainers) and Oni contracts that let you recruit demonic allies. That's a solid foundation for a strategy-RPG if the execution holds. The real question is whether a sub-$5 indie title with zero Steam reviews can sustain the depth its premise promises. The tag list suggests controller support and achievements exist, which implies at least competent polish, but without player feedback or a Metacritic presence, you're gambling on a small team's ability to deliver a complete story arc. If you're the type who reads every NPC dialogue line and treats single-player campaigns as proof of concept, this is exactly the kind of under-the-radar game worth the risk. Just manage your expectations around production values.
