If El Huervo's hallucinogenic alien world left a mark on you, this artbook and soundtrack bundle is the part of Ultros that lives in your head rent-free after the credits roll.

I keep coming back to how rare it is for a game's supplemental materials to feel genuinely necessary, not just padded out. With Ultros, they do. The base game is a psychedelic Metroidvania set inside a cosmic structure called the Sarcophagus, built on time loops, melee-focused combat, an elaborate gardening system, and a skill tree called the Cortex. Critics were split on those mechanics. But virtually nobody disagreed about one thing: the art direction by Niklas Åkerblad, known widely as El Huervo (the artist behind Hotline Miami's visual identity), is unlike anything else in the genre. Niche Gamer called it a world that "resembles a tipped-out Heavy Metal magazine comic with elements of Art Nouveau, French new-wave design, and Roger Dean." That is the world this DLC invites you to sit inside without a combat timer running. The Digital Artbook component showcases concept art, creature designs, and character imagery that never made it into the game's final presentation. For anyone who spent time staring at the Sarcophagus's impossible organic architecture and wondered how those visuals were built from scratch, this is the closest thing to a director's commentary you will get. El Huervo's work has a specific quality that feels less like concept art and more like sacred illustration, neon-soaked and unsettling in the best way. The kind of imagery you would print and hang up if the licensing allowed it. The soundtrack half is equally serious. Oscar "Ratvader" Rydelius composed and orchestrated the score, weaving together Peruvian instruments with classical orchestral arrangements. Tracks like "Ouji Saint" run over thirteen minutes. This is not a pop-in background score designed to fill silence. It is committed, strange, long-form music that matches the game's slow cosmic dread and sudden violence. Several tracks feature El Huervo as a collaborator, which gives the OST the same fused identity as the visual work. Game Rant noted that the music goes "hand-in-hand with the visuals to ensure that each area feels truly unique." A fair warning: this DLC does not add anything to the base game's mechanics or story. If your primary frustration with Ultros was its loop-reset system or the way it strips your Extractor and Cortex upgrades between cycles, none of that is addressed here. This is purely archival content for people who already love what Hadoque built aesthetically. If the game itself left you cold, the artbook will not convert you. But if you are the person who paused mid-fight to look at the alien flora in the background, or found yourself genuinely absorbed by Ratvader's score during a quiet exploration stretch, this bundle is made for you.
