Still Wakes the Deep - The Complete Collection
Six hours of claustrophobic Scottish body horror on a sinking oil rig, plus the Siren's Rest DLC that sends you back down eleven years later. If atmosphere is your currency, this collection pays out.
Veredicto de GamerScout
Essential for fans of atmospheric narrative horror; too short and linear for players who need mechanical depth to justify the ask.

Acerca de Still Wakes the Deep - The Complete Collection
My first hour on the Beira D had me checking over my shoulder at real-world sounds. That's a rare trick, and The Chinese Room pulls it off almost entirely through environment and audio rather than jump-scare mechanics. This is a first-person narrative horror set in 1975, putting you in the boots of Cameron "Caz" McLeary, an electrician on a Scottish oil rig that drills into something it absolutely should not have. There is no combat. Your options are run, hide, climb, squeeze, and occasionally shimmy across a plank above the churning North Sea while a creature made of membrane and screaming tissue closes the gap behind you. The gameplay loop is deliberately lean. You walk, interact with a small set of objects, tackle light platforming across girders and ladders, and respond to quick-time events when Caz loses his grip or his footing. The handholds are painted yellow, the checkpoints are generous, and critics are right that the mechanical depth is thin. None of that stopped it from landing with me, because the thing the game does exceptionally well is place you inside a fully realized, groaning, dripping world. The Beira D was built in Unreal Engine 5 with extraordinary care: handwritten menu boards, corroded paneling, the deep-sea audio of metal under stress. The Scottish cast is equally committed, delivering a script that sounds like real working men talking rather than actors hired to sound like real working men. The voice acting alone separates this from most horror releases. Where some players bounce off it is the runtime and the linearity. The base game runs roughly six hours with no side quests, no alternate routes, and no replayability mechanics to speak of. The story is also deliberately elliptical about its supernatural threat, which either reads as atmospheric restraint or as a frustrating lack of payoff depending on your tolerance for Lovecraftian ambiguity. The Complete Collection adds the Siren's Rest DLC, a roughly two-hour epilogue set in 1986 where you play as Mhairi, a saturation diver sent to investigate the wreck on the seafloor. Siren's Rest shifts the tone toward forensic dread: you photograph human remains, collect mementos of the dead, use a cutting arc and undersea flares to break into sealed sections, and communicate through fragile period diving equipment. It trades the base game's frantic run-and-hide sequences for something slower and more claustrophobic. Community reception for the DLC sits noticeably lower than the main game, and the complaint is fair - it feels structurally compressed, like a longer story cut short. But the underwater Beira D is genuinely unsettling in a different way than the surface version, and thalassophobia sufferers should approach with caution and also probably just buy something else. For the right player, this collection is close to essential. If you liked Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Dear Esther, or Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, you already know The Chinese Room's register and this is their most technically accomplished work by a significant margin. If you need combat options, mechanical complexity, or a runtime that justifies a long weekend, look elsewhere. Three BAFTA wins and an 88% Steam rating from over twelve thousand reviews suggest the audience it is built for has found it.
