Redout - Neptune Pack (DLC)

Redout 2 is one of the faster anti-gravity racers you can sit down with on PC, and the Neptune Pack is a content drop designed for players who've already burned through the base game's campaign and want more. If you haven't touched Redout 2 yet, start there first - this DLC assumes you're already comfortable with the core loop of managing your ship's pitch and roll at speeds that would make most sim racers nervous. For returning players, though, Neptune gives you new environments styled around the planet's crushing, icy aesthetic, which is a solid visual shift from what came before. The racing itself in Redout 2 - and by extension this pack - sits somewhere between arcade and sim. It's not Mario Kart casual, but it's also not the kind of thing that requires a $400 steering wheel setup to enjoy. A gamepad works well, though the full controller support means you can map things sensibly without fighting default layouts. Keyboard is technically possible but the analogue inputs for hull management really do benefit from sticks. If you're a wheel-and-pedals person hoping for force feedback depth, temper expectations - this is an anti-grav game first, a sim second. For multiplayer sessions, the base game's online PvP carries over into DLC content, which means Neptune's tracks can show up in competitive rotations. Remote Play Together support is genuinely useful here if you want to drag a friend into a race without them owning a copy. That said, there's no local split-screen, so the four-friends-on-the-couch scenario doesn't apply. Online is where this one lives for competitive play. Whether the online population is healthy enough for consistent matchmaking is worth checking before committing, since niche racing games can thin out post-launch. The Neptune Pack doesn't reinvent anything. It's track and content expansion material, not a mechanical overhaul. If the base game's speed and visual style clicked with you, new courses in a different setting absolutely scratch that itch. If you bounced off Redout 2 for any reason - the difficulty curve on higher speed classes, the lack of a robust single-player story, the absence of couch co-op - none of that changes here. It's more of what's there, for better or worse. Bottom line for the racing crowd: Neptune is solid DLC for committed Redout 2 fans who want more tracks without waiting for a sequel. Casual players or newcomers should start with the base game and see if the speed suits them first.
