Acerca de Red Dead Redemption 2: Story Mode (DLC)
Red Dead Redemption 2's Story Mode is a third-person open-world action-adventure set in 1899, following Arthur Morgan, lieutenant of the Van der Linde gang, as the wild west gets squeezed out by industry, law, and bad decisions made by people who should know better. It is a prequel to the original Red Dead Redemption, and knowing where the story ends up makes the ride feel heavier, not lighter. Rockstar's goal here was to make you feel like you live in the world rather than just complete missions inside it, and for long stretches, they pull it off. The systems stack up in ways that reward patience. Arthur runs three core stats - Health, Stamina, and Dead Eye - that drain and need managing through food, rest, and tonics. Guns degrade and require oil. Your horse, which can die for good, builds a bond level you actually care about. Hunting and fishing are deliberate and methodical. The weapon loadout caps you at two sidearms and two long guns on your person, with extras stored on the horse, which pushes you to think about what each job needs rather than defaulting to a favourite. The Dead Eye system lets you slow time and tag multiple targets, and it stays satisfying across the full runtime. Combat reads like a solid cover shooter - competent, not spectacular. Enemy AI is forgiving, and the auto-lock aim option tips the difficulty into easy territory if you leave it on. The story itself spans six chapters plus two epilogues, landing somewhere between 50 and 65 hours for anyone not rushing. Chapter pacing varies deliberately - some stretch into tense action, others slow down for the gang's camp dynamics and character work. Stranger missions, random world events, treasure hunts, collectibles, gambling mini-games, and a fully playable first-person mode fill the gaps between main missions. The Honor system nudges your reputation up or down based on choices and affects prices and dialogue, though its influence on outcomes is lighter than it could be. Player agency in the main story is limited - this is a Rockstar-scripted drama, not a branching RPG, and the game is at its most alive in the margins rather than the critical path. The honest friction points: the opening chapters gate a lot of the world's freedom behind a slow introductory pace that will lose some players before the game opens up properly. Controls carry the typical Rockstar weight - dense button mapping, no remapping option, and movement that can feel deliberately sluggish in ways that divide opinion sharply. Some mission structure falls into the classic Rockstar groove of riding somewhere, doing a scripted thing, riding back, and the checkpoint system punishes failure by restarting entire sequences. For players who want a dense, authored open-world story with a strong central character, survival-lite systems, and a world that rewards curiosity at every corner, this holds up as one of the genre's high points. If you need fast action and meaningful player agency shaping the outcome, the pace and scripted structure will grind against you before you reach the best parts.
