I grabbed this GOG bundle to see what the fuss was about, and it's wild how much personality these three games packed into sprite-based fighters. You get the original 1992 Mortal Kombat, the 1993 sequel with expanded roster and fatality theatrics, and the 1995 third entry that basically perfected the arcade formula. The mechanics are clunky by modern standards, timing windows are tight, AI can cheese you with pattern exploits, and the graphics are dated, but there's something satisfying about nailing a 10-hit combo or landing a fatality that still lands after 30 years. These aren't balanced competitive rigs; they're arcade cabinets preserved in code. If you're chasing nostalgia or want to understand fighting game DNA before the move to 3D, the bundle delivers. Just don't expect frame-data polish or rollback netplay.
