I went in expecting a straightforward tie-in game, and Monster High Skulltimate Secrets delivers exactly that: an action-adventure built around the Monster High franchise's character roster and gothic-glam world. The game is clearly made for fans of the toy line and animated movies who want to spend time with these characters in a playable form. The art direction leans into the familiar Monster High look, which will feel comfortable to the target audience. What holds it back is that there's nothing here that couldn't be done better by a different game. The action is serviceable but uninspired, and the adventure framework doesn't offer much to discover beyond what the IP already gives you. This is the kind of game that exists because a license existed and a contract needed fulfilling. If you're a dedicated Monster High fan with younger siblings or kids of your own, it's harmless enough. Everyone else should look elsewhere.
