I spent a few hours with Gods Will Fall expecting a straightforward hack-and-slash fantasy romp. Instead, I found a stripped-down roguelike where your squad of randomly-generated warriors faces off against procedurally-placed divine bosses, and failure hits hard. Each god runs a gauntlet of enemies leading to a boss fight; lose a warrior and they're gone for that run, though you can attempt rescue missions to bring them back. Combat is methodical and unforgiving, you can't button-mash your way through, and the game punishes greed with sudden, brutal death. The concept is solid: mythology twisted as oppressive tyranny, and the guerrilla-strike structure against individual gods creates meaningful risk. But the mixed reviews tell the real story: the campaign is short, repetition sets in quickly, and some boss fights feel designed around luck as much as skill. If you love roguelikes that respect your time commitment and enjoy losing characters to permadeath stakes, this scratches that itch. Everyone else will probably bounce off before finishing.
