Two full open-world shooters in one bundle: the sprawling cult chaos of Hope County and its neon-soaked post-apocalyptic sequel. Excellent value if you haven't touched either, redundant if you own one already.

I've put serious time into both of these games separately, so let me cut straight to what this bundle actually is and who it's actually for. Far Cry 5 is the stronger of the two titles and the right place to start. It drops you into Hope County, a fictional slice of rural Montana that has been carved up by a doomsday cult called Eden's Gate and its charismatic leader Joseph Seed. Hope County is split into three regions, each controlled by one of Seed's siblings - Faith, John, and Jacob - and dismantling each one feeds a Resistance meter that escalates enemy aggression the more pressure you apply. The loop is classic Far Cry: liberate outposts, recruit Guns for Hire companions, and cause enough chaos that the cult's grip eventually breaks. What FC5 does better than most entries is sand away the friction. The infamous radio tower mechanic is gone. The world reveals itself through conversations with locals and by actually looking around. Random encounters fire constantly - wildlife attacks, cultist ambushes, and genuinely absurd moments that nobody scripted pile up fast. Full campaign co-op is available from the start, and the Arcade mode drops in a surprisingly capable map editor if you want to stay busy after the credits roll. Far Cry New Dawn is the sequel, and you should know exactly what you're signing up for before you spend time on it. Set 17 years after Far Cry 5's ending, the same Hope County map returns but transformed by a nuclear superbloom into something far more colorful and visually distinctive than the standard post-apocalyptic grey-brown palette. New antagonists Mickey and Lou lead a raider gang called the Highwaymen, and the core mission is rebuilding Prosperity, your survivor settlement, by scavenging materials across the map. The big mechanical shift is a tiered weapon and enemy system: guns and opponents come in ranked tiers, and under-leveled weapons deal almost nothing to higher-rank enemies. That forces a crafting progression loop that some players find satisfying and others find tedious, depending entirely on how patient they are with gear-gating in a shooter. Outposts can be raided repeatedly at increasing difficulty for escalating rewards, which is a neat wrinkle if you like replaying combat scenarios. The honest criticism of New Dawn is that it never fully commits to being something new. The crafting and tier system grafts RPG structure onto what is still fundamentally a Far Cry sandbox, and the story is noticeably shorter than a mainline entry. Players who expected a full sequel sometimes feel shortchanged. That said, the setting genuinely pops visually, the co-op works well, and if you are coming off Far Cry 5 and want more of that world with some mechanical variety, New Dawn delivers on those narrow terms. The Expeditions mode, which sends you to locations outside Hope County entirely, is a bright spot that breaks the map monotony. For the bundle specifically: if you have never played either game, this is a clean way to get both. Start with Far Cry 5, give it 30-plus hours, and treat New Dawn as the extended epilogue it functionally is. If you already own Far Cry 5, the value proposition shrinks to whether New Dawn alone is worth the delta. It probably is at the right price, but do not walk in expecting a full sequel experience. Best for open-world shooter fans who want two games in one Montana playground, provided they go in knowing New Dawn is a shorter, RPG-lite follow-up.
