Fantasy General is old-school tactical strategy that doesn't apologize for its learning curve. You're building armies, managing resources, and fighting turn-based battles on hex grids with a roster of fantasy units that actually matter. The campaign map plays like a light 4X where positioning and unit composition count more than reflexes. There's genuine depth here if you're willing to read the manual and experiment with different hero builds and army lineups. It's janky by modern standards and the UI feels like it's from 1996 (because it is). If you bounce off games that don't hold your hand, this isn't your title. But for players who crave old-school tactics without bloat, it's still surprisingly playable and rewarding once you get the rhythm down.
