EA Sports: FC 26
Fifty percent of nearly 100,000 Steam reviewers give this a thumbs up, which tells you everything about who FC 26 is and isn't for right now.
Veredicto de GamerScout
Worth it for offline Career and tournament modes; approach FUT online with serious caution given persistent monetisation and meta issues.

I've spent enough time across career-mode spreadsheets and Ultimate Team grind cycles to know when a sports franchise is genuinely fixing itself versus applying a fresh coat of paint, and FC 26 sits uncomfortably between those two poles. The headline addition this year is the split between Authentic and Competitive gameplay presets, and it is, genuinely, the most structurally interesting decision EA has made with this series in years. Authentic mode slows the pace, demands positional intelligence, and tries to replicate what you actually see on a Saturday afternoon. Competitive keeps things fast and familiar, closer to the arcade rhythm long-time players are conditioned to. Crucially, the two presets are tuned independently, so a balance patch to Competitive cannot bleed into Authentic, which is the kind of systems-level thinking that should have arrived several iterations ago. On the pitch in Authentic mode, and specifically at World Class difficulty or above, the game can click into something that feels earned. Build-up play matters, pressing lanes open up, and the 48-team international tournament mode gives you a genuine tournament structure to run those tactics through. Manager Live Challenges add rotating storylines to the managerial side, which at least disrupts the usual static grind. Player Career gets new international ICONs and Heroes as unlockables, giving that mode a cleaner long-term motivation than it has had in recent cycles. These are real improvements, not imagined ones. The problems, however, are just as real. Drop below World Class difficulty and the defensive AI collapses, making solo career sessions feel hollow regardless of which preset you choose. In competitive online play, the spinning dribble meta, exploitable near-post shooting, and defenders that struggle to track attackers running set patterns make FUT Rivals feel less like football and more like a mechanic exploit competition. Career Mode bugs around contract renewals and transfer logic have been reported persistently since launch, and PC players in particular have flagged random crashes and disconnects mid-match that patches have not fully resolved. Ultimate Team remains the franchise's open wound: Squad Building Challenges tuned to require FC Points at the higher tiers, and rewards structured to nudge spending rather than reward sustained play. The Steam "Mixed" rating at roughly 50 percent positive across nearly 100,000 reviews is not review-bombed noise. It reflects a real split between players who engage with offline modes and find a functional, improved football game, and those who came primarily for FUT online competition and feel the monetisation has worsened despite the gameplay upgrades. Metacritic's critic aggregate landed at 77, the series' best score since the FIFA rebrand, which suggests the on-pitch direction is sound even if the surrounding infrastructure is not. The concurrent player count on PC has declined year-over-year, which is a data point worth sitting with if you're deciding whether the online ecosystem will still be populated when you arrive. If you play Manager Career, enjoy the new tournament mode, or want Authentic preset football against CPU opponents at the right difficulty, FC 26 is a measurable step forward from FC 25. If your primary destination is FUT online, the frustrations that have defined this franchise for years are still present, and in some areas more entrenched than before. Go in clear-eyed about which game you're actually buying.
