Four missions, a new Dark Elf faction, and a day-night cycle that actually changes how you build: Double Trouble is a focused expansion that rewards Dungeons 4 veterans more than it stretches the formula.

My first honest reaction to Double Trouble was mild suspicion: four missions sounds thin on paper, and the Dungeons series has a history of wrapping small content drops in a lot of comedic noise. Having worked through the whole thing, though, I can report the expansion earns more of its runtime than the mission count suggests, chiefly because Realmforge tied the new faction's power ceiling to a real mechanical variable rather than just dropping reskinned units into old maps. The headliner addition is the Dark Elf faction, four new units recruited through the Dark Elf Portal Room: the Beastmaster, the Blackguard, the Spellbreaker, and the Dark Knight. What separates them from the base game's roster is the day-night cycle introduced alongside them. When the sun goes down on the overworld, Dark Elf units hit meaningfully harder, which means you start thinking about attack timing in a way the base game never demanded. That is a small but genuine layer of planning on top of Dungeons 4's existing split-level loop of dungeon construction underground and surface combat above. The Animal Kennel room also lets you tame roaming creatures, including the new Dark Entities, and fold them into your army rather than simply tolerating them as corridor hazards. That creature-taming mechanic shifts some of the resource calculus and opens up army compositions the base game doesn't support. Thalya gets four new skills tied to the campaign: Machine Gun Entity, Tamer, Dark Sun, and The Dynamite Shepard. Each is matched to one of the four missions, so the skill unlocks serve as pacing anchors rather than a skill tree you build freely. Strategy purists might find that limiting. What it does do well is keep each mission feeling like it has a defined focus rather than asking you to juggle everything at once. The campaign's story hook, Thalya encountering an alternate-dimension version of herself and a matching duplicate of Tristan while a narrator visibly loses composure, lands in the same register as the base game's humor: broad, self-aware, reliably funny if you were already on board with the tone. The criticisms worth flagging are real and they come from actual player feedback rather than theoretical concerns. Four missions is a short run for a paid expansion, and the absence of new skirmish maps means the longevity argument depends entirely on how much time you spend in co-op or replaying on higher difficulties. Some players also noted the Dark Elf units skew toward overpowered once you get them rolling at night, which can deflate the late-mission tension rather than raise it. There is no expanded tech tree for the new units, so the Dark Elves feel tactically complete but not deeply upgradable. If you were hoping Double Trouble would meaningfully expand the strategic ceiling of the late game, you will come away wanting more. For the audience that belongs here: if you finished Dungeons 4 and want another afternoon of the same reliable dungeon-keeper loop with a few new levers to pull, Double Trouble delivers that without breaking anything. Go in expecting a focused episode, not a second act. Diego, Scout Team

Veredicto de GamerScout

Worth it for Dungeons 4 fans who want a focused new faction and a timing mechanic, but too short for anyone expecting a full expansion.
