A 5v1 asymmetric horror game where wind-up Bunnies and a carnival predator share one brutal resource economy - loud keys betray you, silence might save you, and a coordinated squad is the only real counter to a good Monster player.

My first impression of Carnival Hunt was that it wears its Dead by Daylight influence openly, then tries to do something genuinely different with the resource loop underneath. Five players are fragile wind-up Bunnies; one player is the Carnival Monster. Everyone is running on borrowed time, literally. Bunnies carry noisy mechanical keys that power their movement, the Monster consumes captured keys to keep hunting, and every sound in the procedurally arranged carnival rooms is a potential tell. The mutual dependency on that same resource - keys - is the core design idea, and it mostly works. It creates a tension that feels distinct from the standard generator-repair formula. The map system deserves a mention. Levels are assembled from 32 modular rooms across several carnival themes, shuffled each match so routes and room connections shift. You cannot memorize a layout and coast on it, which keeps the Bunny side genuinely uncertain even for experienced players. The first-person perspective applies to both sides, meaning neither the Monster nor the Bunnies gets a bird's-eye read on positioning. That symmetry of information is a smart call - it stops the Monster from feeling like an omniscient predator and keeps every encounter reactive. Positional voice chat is built in, and the developers explicitly call a microphone near-mandatory. Bring friends or you are going to struggle to coordinate. That said, the game entered Early Access with a thin content roster: two monsters available at launch, one procedural map environment to start. Player feedback, even from supporters, circles back to balance friction - the Monster's abilities carry significant cooldowns, some Bunny mechanics feel forced rather than organic, and server stability has drawn consistent complaints since launch. The Steam reviews sit at roughly 66 percent positive across over 1,500 ratings, which reads as a Mixed verdict - a community that sees the potential but is frustrated by the Early Access gaps. Critics within the community point to a lack of mechanical differentiation between the two monsters currently in the game, which is a real concern for long-term replayability. Balance patches and content variety are the stated roadmap priorities, and the developer is actively posting updates, which is at least the right posture for a small team shipping an asymmetric multiplayer game. Who this is for: horror multiplayer fans who have burned out on Dead by Daylight's ecosystem and want something with a fresher aesthetic and a stealth-forward resource loop. The carnival setting is genuinely unsettling - mechanical puppet bunnies in a shifting nightmare carnival is a stronger visual identity than most entries in the genre manage. Solo players who hate relying on strangers should skip it entirely; this game has no meaningful solo mode and suffers hard without voice communication. If you have a group of five ready to commit, the core loop is tense and the moment-to-moment stealth reads well even in its current rough state. If you are buying alone and hoping matchmaking carries you, temper expectations sharply until the player base and server situation stabilize. Alex, Scout Team

Best for horror multiplayer squads of five who want a stealth-heavy Dead by Daylight alternative - solo buyers should wait for more content.
