Riding the Ice Road Truckers brand name into the bargain bin, this one lands with a thud. Skip it unless your expectations are set firmly at 'idle clicker with a steering wheel.'

My spreadsheet instincts kicked in the moment I saw the upgrade tree: five trucks, three basic upgrade branches each, and a cargo loop that amounts to picking up machines, wood, or bulk solids from a central hub and driving them to one of the handful of map locations. That is the full scope of the decision-making on offer here. For a genre that lives and dies on the depth of its economy and progression systems, Arctic Trucker Simulator is running on fumes from the first hour. The campaign structure is a simple contract treadmill. You complete deliveries, earn cash, unlock a slightly bigger truck, and repeat. There is no meaningful logistics puzzle, no route optimization pressure, and no weather system that actually changes how the truck handles. The icy roads that the marketing leans on so heavily do not affect driving physics in any noticeable way. Fuel is the only resource that ever demands attention, and even that is barely a concern because the tank capacity is generous enough to make running dry a non-event. For anyone who has logged time in Euro Truck Simulator 2 or even the lighter Farming Simulator series, the poverty of systems here is immediately apparent. The celebrity endorsement from Alex Debogorski, the fan-favorite Ice Road Truckers TV personality, is the loudest thing about this title. Fans of the show who came hoping for a faithful recreation of white-knuckle arctic hauls will find the reality disappointing. The driving model has no meaningful weight simulation, cargo does not shift or stress the rig, and the map is compact enough to strip out any sense of distance or isolation that made the source material compelling. Community feedback on Steam sits at roughly 40 percent positive across its total review count, which is about where a genre fan would peg it after an hour of play. Controllers are supported and work, which is about the most positive practical note I can hit. The game runs on PC, Mac, and Linux, is old enough that compatibility warnings for newer macOS versions are now in play, and has achievements if you are chasing a low-effort 100 percent on your profile. There is no mod support, no multiplayer, and no post-launch content that changes the calculus in any direction. This is a 2016 budget release that has not aged into anything more interesting than it was at launch. If you are a die-hard trucking sim completionist or a younger player who wants something with zero friction to learn genre basics, the floor-level price point at least matches the floor-level ambition. Everyone else in the sim community has far better options within arm's reach. Come in with zero expectations and you will get exactly what you paid for. Come in hoping for even a fraction of the tension from the show it trades on, and you will be back at the store page within the hour. Diego, Scout Team
