Space Colony HD

Space Colony HD is a retro real-time strategy-sim that tasks you with managing a space station or planetary outpost. You hire colonists with distinct personalities and skills, assign them to jobs (mining, farming, research, defense), and juggle food, power, and morale while fending off alien attacks and equipment breakdowns. The charm is in watching your crew interact, fall in love, get drunk, or mutiny if you push them too hard. It's deliberately low-stakes and humorous, rewarding observation over optimization. The HD remaster smooths the visuals from the 2003 original but doesn't overhaul the core loop, which means turn-of-the-century pathfinding quirks and UI drag can frustrate modern players expecting snappy feedback. That said, if you're looking for a cozy, weird sim with personality (think Dwarf Fortress's drunk uncle), Space Colony hits different. It's niche, but it knows exactly what it is.
