Silent Descent

I spent most of Silent Descent's runtime holding my breath. You're Samuel Harris, trapped in a purgatorial cycle of pain and suffering, and the game refuses to hold your hand or explain what's happening. The atmosphere is suffocating, dim corridors, minimal sound design that makes silence itself a weapon, and a sense that something is fundamentally wrong with the space you're moving through. It's slow, methodical, and deliberately uncomfortable. What works is the intentionality. There are no cheap scares here, just mounting dread as you piece together why you're here. The handful of puzzles feel natural rather than gamified. What doesn't work as well is the pacing in the middle stretch, where the loop starts to feel repetitive before the payoff clicks into place. If you're chasing adrenaline, look elsewhere. If you want to sit with something that lingers, Silent Descent earns your time.
