Purely cosmetic DLC for a divisive action-RPG: four V-Idol characters get bunny outfits, nothing more. Only grab it if you already know you love the base game's cast.

I'll be straight with you: this is a costume pack, not a game. The Bunny Outfit: V-Idol Set drops four alternate outfits for Me, You, Vice, and Licht, the playable V-Idol roster from Neptunia Virtual Stars, accessed through the Information facility's "Get Extra Items" option. There are no new mechanics, no story beats, no combat bonuses. It is purely a wardrobe addition, and this review exists to set the context you need to decide whether it is worth your money. To understand the value here, you need a sense of what Neptunia Virtual Stars actually is. The base game is a third-person action-RPG released in 2021 that splits its playable roster between the four Gamindustri Goddesses, who handle ranged third-person shooter combat, and the V-Idol sub-party, who shift into hack-and-slash territory. Me and You form the duo MEWTRAL, while Vice (scythe fighter with a devil-and-angel dynamic with her partner) and Licht (staff-wielding mage who attacks from range) join the party later. The dual combat system is one of the game's most divisive design choices: reviewers consistently noted that the Goddess shooter gameplay and the V-Idol melee feel like two separate games stitched together, and the V-Idol side in particular was criticised as noticeably weaker than the Goddess side in terms of responsiveness and damage output. The base game also has a BeatTik rhythm mini-game, an Emotional Overdrive gauge system for powered-up attacks, and a Guest Connect mechanic where rescued VTubers (including real Hololive personalities) provide support in battle. The story is light meta-parody, self-aware about internet culture with enemies literally called "Antis." It rewards fans of the Neptunia series' comedic visual-novel segments more than it rewards anyone who wants deep mechanical engagement. The writing has charm in places, particularly in the dynamic between Me's chaotic energy and Neptune's equally zero-braincell confidence, but the plot structure is largely a loop of moving between zones and beating the resident boss. So where does that leave this DLC? If you already like the four V-Idol characters enough to want to dress them in bunny outfits for BeatTik performances or photo mode sessions, this pack delivers exactly what it advertises. The base game does have a notably robust character customisation and photo mode, and the visual style is polished, so purely cosmetic additions do have a home here. If you are on the fence about the base game itself, no costume pack changes the underlying calculus: the gameplay is shallow, the V-Idol combat is the weaker of the two combat styles, and the title appeals most to series faithful and VTuber fans rather than players looking for a mechanically rewarding action-RPG.
