Jet Set Radio HD

I spent my first hour with Jet Set Radio HD expecting janky controls and dated level design. What I got instead was a game that aged weirdly well. The cel-shading still looks vibrant, the trick system is tight once you learn it, and tagging graffiti across Tokyo remains genuinely fun. The core loop is simple: skate to locations, tag walls under time pressure, escape the police. It's satisfying in short bursts. The camera struggles in tight quarters, and some late-game levels feel artificially padded with cops. If you're coming in cold, the story is thin (teenage rebellion, government oppression, pretty standard stuff). But for players who remember the original or want a stylish, low-stress skate-'em-up that lets you just chill and spray-paint, this remaster scratches that specific itch. It's not trying to be Skate or a hardcore sim. It's a vibe game, and it knows it.
