IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Kuban

I'll be direct: IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Kuban is not a game for casual fliers. This is a study-sim where you need to understand energy states, engine management, and the actual flight model of 40+ aircraft to survive five minutes in multiplayer. Single-player campaigns exist but feel secondary to the real draw: persistent online servers where players fly coordinated bomber runs, fighter sweeps, and ground-attack missions across a detailed Kuban map. The physics are unforgiving (no assisted flight modes in high-difficulty lobbies), but that's the whole point. Modding community keeps aircraft variants and missions flowing long after launch. The learning curve is genuinely steep and the player base is small and protective of their skill ceiling, so don't expect hand-holding. If you've got a HOTAS setup gathering dust and you want 100+ hours of meaningful multiplayer flying, this is your game. Casual players or console gamers should look elsewhere. VR support works, controller support is partial, and the level editor means custom scenarios can extend your runway.
