I went in expecting Halo Wars 2 to feel like a console-friendlier StarCraft, and it mostly delivers. You build structures, queue units, and command armies across skirmish maps with a camera locked to isometric view. The campaign follows a new human commander fighting the Banished (a Halo faction splinter group), and it does the heavy lifting of teaching mechanics without dragging. Where it stumbles: pathing can be stubborn, the late-game army micro isn't as crisp as desktop RTS fare, and multiplayer communities for console-only games tend to thin fast. That said, if you want Halo lore wrapped in 30-minute tactical matches without needing a keyboard and mouse, this scratches that itch. Metacritic sits at 79, which feels fair - solid strategy game that doesn't reinvent the genre but respects your time.
