GamerScout Verdict
For hardcore MMO veterans chasing nostalgia only; the tiny population and dated systems make it a hard sell for new players.

About Guild Wars Factions
I've got to be honest: Guild Wars Factions is 20 years old, and it shows. This expansion introduced the Ritualist and Assassin classes alongside the original professions, but it's the faction split that defines it. You pick Kurzick or Luxon early, locking you into different storylines, NPCs, and competitive zones where your faction actually contests territory. The PvP-forward design means you're constantly rubbing shoulders with enemy players. The problem is longevity. This is a legacy MMO with a tiny active population, clunky early-2000s interface, and quest design that hasn't aged gracefully. If you're chasing nostalgia or want to experience where ArenaNet was experimenting with faction warfare, it's a curiosity. Otherwise, skip it.
