I've played enough indie platformers to recognize when a game respects your time, and Giana Sisters 2D does that much right. The controls feel responsive, the learning curve eases you in without hand-holding, and the pixel art has a warmth to it that justifies the HD remake treatment. But the mixed Steam reception (59% positive) suggests the jump from DS cult classic to PC didn't solve whatever held it back then. The level design is competent rather than inspired, and there's a sense that this bundle exists more for completionists than for players seeking something revelatory. It's a solid afternoon, not a revelation.
