About ★ Fallalypse ★ Death or Cress ♝
My spreadsheet instincts kicked in immediately when I checked the community page for this one: zero updates post-launch, a Steam review score locked at Mostly Negative, and concurrent player counts that hover around a single digit. That is not a minor red flag. That is a full alarm. Fallalypse: Death or Cress is a third-person shooter set in a post-apocalyptic sci-fi universe where AI-controlled robots triggered civilizational collapse, turned survivors into zombies, and prompted humanity to flee Earth on starships hunting for new planets. You play as a space-marine paired with a priest from something called the Space Battle Church, sent to investigate a colony ship that went silent. The premise has a pulpy, low-budget charm. The execution does not follow through. On paper the tag list reads like a genre sampler platter: open-world exploration, PvE combat, story-driven singleplayer, survival horror, RPG, and third-person shooter all share space in the same store listing. In practice, community reports and available footage suggest the game never graduated past a skeletal Early Access shell. The advertised destroyable world and various weapons system are present in the most literal sense, but the depth of decision-making I look for in anything carrying an RPG or Strategy label is nowhere to be found. There is no meaningful build progression, no AI systems worth analyzing, and no mod ecosystem to salvage the experience. The writing commits the kind of basic lore errors that undercut any attempt at atmosphere before the first cutscene ends. What genuinely baffles me from a strategy-brain perspective is how a game spanning so many genres manages to deliver on none of them. A survival sim demands resource loops and base tension. A story RPG needs branching decisions or at least competent pacing. A third-person shooter needs responsive combat and enemy variety. Hede appears to have checked genre boxes on the Steam form without building the systems underneath. The community has been vocal about the abandonment, with discussion threads calling it out publicly for years with no developer response visible. The achievement guide exists, which technically means you can 100-percent the game, but that is a curiosity statistic rather than an endorsement. The cross-platform availability on PC, Mac, and Linux, plus full controller support, hints at ambitions that simply did not materialize. Fallalypse: Death or Cress sits in the unfortunate category of games that are historically interesting only as cautionary examples of Early Access titles left to fossilize mid-development. If you are hunting for a sci-fi action RPG with zombie and exploration elements, your time is far better spent elsewhere. There are no strategic systems to theorize over here, no late-game depth to plan toward, and no active development to hope will fix things. The numbers do not lie, and these numbers say walk away. Diego, Scout Team
