Competitive, which is locked in for all online play including Rivals, Champs, and the new Challengers tier, trades animation fidelity for snappier response times, fewer auto-tackles, increased passing speed, and smarter goalkeeper rebounds. These are real, mechanical differences, not just slider resets. On the FUT side, Tournaments now run knockout brackets of up to four rounds, Live Events rotate themed competitions throughout the season, and Goalkeeper Evolutions are available for the first time, which is a meaningful addition for squad-builders who obsess over every position. Repeatable Evolutions also return, giving the roster construction loop more replay value than it had in FC 25. That said, the mixed Steam reception with roughly half of nearly 100,000 reviews trending positive is not a coincidence. The community frustration is structural, not cosmetic. Career Mode returned with very little retooling, the deficit of a story-driven street mode like VOLTA is still felt, and the AI defending below World Class difficulty remains punishingly inconsistent in Authentic matches. The on-pitch experience rewards players who dial up the difficulty and commit to the slower tactical tempo, but the audience willing to put in that work is narrower than EA's marketing implies. For the FC Points pack specifically, the honest answer is that it is a convenience product, not a gameplay upgrade. The 12,000-point bundle unlocks access to packs, Draft entries, stadium cosmetics, Archetype card backgrounds for Clubs, and Evolution slots, all things that the in-game earn structure also provides, just on a slower timetable. Belgium and South Korea residents cannot purchase FC Points at all due to local regulation, which is worth knowing. The points are not eligible for refund once purchased, and they require the base game plus an active EA Account and internet connection to use. None of that is a surprise for a live-service sports title, but it is worth stating plainly alongside any deal price you see on this page. If you are already committed to FC 26 as your football game this cycle and you find the daily grind friction annoying, this is a straightforward utility purchase. If you are on the fence about the base game, no points bundle changes the underlying quality debate. The football itself is better than FC 25, the FUT structural updates are genuine, and the Authentic preset is a welcome addition for single-player focused players. But incremental progress on a familiar framework is still what you are getting.
