Dead Rising 3 Apocalypse Edition
Hundreds of zombies on screen, a city full of ludicrous combo weapons, and two-player co-op chaos: DR3 delivers exactly the sandbox carnage it promises, rough PC port and all.
GamerScout Verdict
Best for sandbox chaos fans who can tolerate a rough PC port and want co-op zombie carnage with a deep crafting twist.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

About Dead Rising 3 Apocalypse Edition
I went in expecting the same manic energy that made the original Dead Rising a cult favourite, and Dead Rising 3 mostly delivers that, just with a few asterisks attached. You play as Nick Ramos, a mechanic who is somehow immune to the infection leveling Los Perdidos, and your only real job is to craft absurd weapons, mow down hordes, and get out before the military drops a bomb on what's left of the city. It is a simple premise that gives you a lot of room to play. The weapon and vehicle combo system is the clearest reason to be here. Blueprints scattered across the city unlock combinations you build on the spot, anywhere in the open world, and the results range from genuinely useful to completely ridiculous. A fire-breathing dragon parasol or a teddy bear stuffed with assault rifles are not outliers, they are Tuesday. Nick earns PP from kills and missions, spending it on a leveling system that improves carry capacity, attack power, speed, and move variety, giving you a steady sense of progression without ever feeling like a grind. The city of Los Perdidos is genuinely massive, packed with side missions, survivor rescues, and collectibles. Two-player online co-op lets both players explore freely and tackle side missions independently, though main story chapters require you to stay together. Where DR3 stumbles is in tone and difficulty. The first two games leaned hard into camp and comedy, but this entry tries to thread a grittier needle and never quite commits. Nick spends the apocalypse in a permanent state of low-level panic while the game simultaneously asks you to wield traffic cones and cartoon super suits. The Psychopath boss encounters are fun setpieces, but on the default difficulty they go down fast, and the relaxed time limits, while newcomer-friendly, strip out much of the pressure that made older entries feel urgent. Series veterans wanting the classic arcade-style punishment can flip on Nightmare Mode, but the default experience leans casual. The PC port is where things get complicated. Performance was a known issue at launch and community feedback has been consistent over the years: frame drops are common on higher settings, cutscenes tear, and the game originally shipped with a 30fps cap that required manual file edits to bypass. On modest hardware, dropping to lower settings keeps things playable but costs visual fidelity. It is an optimization situation that has not been fully resolved by patches, so checking your spec against community benchmarks before buying is a real recommendation, not a formality. The Apocalypse Edition does bundle all four Untold Stories DLC episodes, each giving you a different character's perspective on the outbreak, which meaningfully extends the content on offer. For players who want a wide-open sandbox to commit zombie-flavored mayhem in with a friend, DR3 holds up as a decent time, especially at a discounted price. If you come in chasing the sharp wit of the earlier games or expecting a polished PC experience, you will find the gaps. But if the pitch of "craft a flamethrower from scratch in the middle of a street while hundreds of zombies close in" does anything for you, the game earns that interest.
