I've spent enough time in Dead by Daylight to know what a chapter drop means: new killer, new survivor, new perks, and cosmetics tied to the licensed property. This one strips Castlevania's gothic atmosphere into the familiar asymmetrical formula. You get themed skins and a map tie-in, but the core loop hasn't changed. If you're a Dead by Daylight regular who loves the IP, this is a straightforward add-on. If you're considering jumping in just for Castlevania's name, the game's brutal learning curve and reliance on perks from previous seasons will grind you down fast. The Castlevania license is wasted on cosmetics alone. No special killer mechanics tied to the source material, no reimagined survivors with class-specific plays, just skins and the promise that it 'feels' like Castlevania because the map has some architecture. It's a safe cash-in for fans of both franchises, but not a reason to start playing Dead by Daylight from scratch.
