I went in expecting Grand Theft Auto with a gang-building layer, and Crime Boss: Rockay City half-delivers on that. You run protection rackets, recruit crew members with different skills, and stage heists across a neon-soaked city. When the combat clicks and you're orchestrating a multi-stage robbery, there's real momentum. The crew management loop has teeth - losing a lieutenant to a rival gang actually stings. The problem is inconsistency. Mission design ranges from tight to busywork. Driving feels floaty. The city itself is smaller and less reactive than you'd hope for. Performance hiccups pop up even on decent hardware. It's a game that knows what it wants to be but stumbles on the execution - fun in bursts, tedious in stretches. If you're hungry for a heist game that lets you build your own criminal operation and don't mind some rough edges, there's enough here to scratch that itch.
