About Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time (Xbox)
I went in expecting nostalgia bait and got a platformer that actually evolved the formula. Crash 4 ditches the 3D perspective entirely and commits to 2D side-scrolling design, layering in time-manipulation mechanics, character-switching puzzles, and levels that get genuinely complex without feeling cheap. The difficulty curve is steep, this isn't a casual Sunday game, but each level teaches you its systems before it punishes you for ignoring them. The core feel is snappy, the art pops, and there's real variety across worlds. What holds it back is the pacing. Some levels drag with mandatory chase sequences, and the mask power-ups that define later stages (like rewinding time) feel bolted-on rather than essential. If you loved the original trilogy and want something that doesn't coast on name recognition alone, this delivers. Casual platformer fans should probably sit this one out.
