GamerScout Verdict
Tactical bones are sound, but execution stumbles; worth trying in co-op if you have patience for dated design.

About Commandos: Origins - No Man Left Behind
I spent enough time with Commandos: Origins to understand what Claymore was chasing here: a return to the real-time squad control that defined the original series, where you pause to plan positioning and timing, then watch your four-man team execute under fire. The skeleton is there - line-of-sight stealth, flanking routes, environmental kill opportunities - and co-op across LAN and online is a genuine draw for tactics fans starved for squad-based multiplayer. The difficulty slider and no-timed-input option show respect for accessibility, at least. The problem is the 71 Metacritic reflects a game that feels mechanically dated before arrival. AI pathing is brittle, UI feedback lags behind user input, and the mission design leans on repetition rather than emergent problems. You'll manage, especially in co-op where a second brain offsets some jank, but this isn't the landmark comeback the series deserved. Best for purists willing to work around its rough edges.
