Chef Life drops you into the deep end of restaurant ownership without much guidance. You're managing purchasing, décor, hiring staff, and handling kitchen operations across multiple stations. The appeal is obvious: there's something satisfying about designing a menu, watching customers respond, and grinding toward Michelin stars. The problem is the breadth works against depth. Nothing feels particularly meaty, cooking is simplified, staff management is shallow, and the interface often feels clunky rather than intuitive. This isn't Overcooked's arcade fun or a serious business sim; it's caught between genres without excelling at either. If you're chasing a relaxing management loop and can tolerate some rough edges, it has moments of appeal. But most players will hit the wall around hour five when the novelty wears off and the grind reveals its limited mechanics. The lack of Steam reviews should tell you something about its staying power. Skip unless you specifically want a low-stakes restaurant management sandbox, not a sim with real teeth.
