Ezio's swan song wraps up his trilogy with Constantinople intrigue, but the series was already running on fumes by 2011.

I've put enough hours into the Assassin's Creed franchise to know when it's coasting. Revelations sends Ezio to Ottoman Constantinople for what amounts to a victory lap through familiar mechanics: parkour across rooftops, stab guards in the back, unlock towers, repeat. The hook tower-defense minigame tries to add variety but lands flat. Multiplayer was the real draw for AC fans at the time, and it's functional if you can find opponents. The story tries to tie Ezio's arc to Altair's legacy, which works thematically even if the pacing drags. This is a game for people who loved AC2 and Brotherhood enough to stick with it one more time. If you're burned out on the formula by now, Revelations won't convince you otherwise. The 80 Metacritic score feels about right: competent, not pushing boundaries, comfortable with what it is. GamerScout Verdict

A competent trilogy closer for AC devotees; everyone else should start with AC2 instead.
