Alone in the Dark Anthology

I spent a few hours at Derceto Manor expecting a faithful recreation of the 1992 cult classic. What I got instead was Pieces Interactive's best attempt at capturing that retro vibe while bolting on modern action-adventure mechanics. The result feels torn between honoring the source material and trying to appeal to contemporary players. You've got inventory puzzles, fixed camera angles that occasionally betray you, and combat that feels clunky by design (whether intentional or not). The atmosphere is there, the manor drips with creeping dread, but the execution stumbles when you're wrestling with controls that fight more than they flow. This is a niche remake for people who actually played the original and want to revisit that specific era of horror gaming. If you're expecting a polished modern reboot, you'll bounce off fast. The achievement list and controller support suggest it's built for comfort, which is generous considering how dated everything feels. Rough around the edges doesn't always mean bad, but here it means you need patience and low expectations.
