Compare Acorn Assault: Rodent Revolution prices across trusted key stores and find the best deal. Developed by Black Shell Media. Published by Black Shell Media. Released on 3/2/2016. Available on PC. Genres: Strategy, Indie, Casual.

A rodent-themed tactical game that swaps genre convention for charm, but shallow mechanics and rough edges limit appeal beyond novelty seekers.

I went in expecting a quirky tower defense or squad-based tactics game, but Acorn Assault lands somewhere between puzzle platformer and action-strategy without fully committing to either. You're orchestrating rodent units across bite-sized levels, and the core hook, timing movement and attacks in real-time against static enemies, works fine for the first hour. The pixel art is clean, and the premise doesn't take itself seriously, which is the right call. That goodwill evaporates fast. Levels repeat the same handful of patterns, difficulty spikes feel arbitrary rather than earned, and there's no feedback system to explain why a strategy failed. Unit variety is minimal, progression is flat, and the controls feel sluggish when precision matters. It's the kind of game that's fun in screenshots but exhausting to actually play through. Skip unless you're hunting specifically for obscure rodent games. Alex, Scout Team

GamerScout Verdict

Charming rodent premise overshadowed by repetitive level design and lack of mechanical depth, pass unless novelty is enough.
