The most complete wrestling sim in years, packed with 300+ superstars and a genuinely improved in-ring feel - just avoid The Island like it's a steel chair to the skull.

My usual beat is spreadsheets and supply chains, but every year the WWE 2K series lands on my desk and I give it the same treatment I'd give any deep simulation: mode depth, system layering, value per hour, and whether the thing actually works at launch. WWE 2K25 surprised me by clearing most of those bars comfortably. The in-ring engine is the strongest it has been since Visual Concepts revived the franchise. Moves, reversals, signatures, and finishers connect with noticeably better animation transitions compared to prior entries, and a new stamina mechanic meaningfully discourages button-mashing spam. Chain wrestling returns as a minigame in the opening stretch of a match - it is a bit shallow and most players will eventually tune it out, but the intent to reward a more technical playstyle is there. More impactful are the new match types: Bloodline Rules turns any singles bout into a chaotic no-DQ scramble with run-in allies, while Underground strips the ropes from the ring and forces a knockout-or-submission finish in a fight-club atmosphere. Barricade diving and intergender competition round out the sandbox, meaningfully expanding what you can set up in exhibition and Universe mode. Mode variety is where the Deadman Edition earns its premium over Standard. The Season Pass is bundled in, which covers all five post-launch DLC character packs and a SuperCharger that unlocks the full base roster of legends immediately - including Rob Van Dam, Eddie Guerrero, and throwback arenas like WCW Fall Brawl WarGames - without grinding. The Undertaker-themed Deadman Bonus Pack adds Undertaker '90 and a Mattel Elite persona card, the usable urn as a weapon, and Brother Love as a manager. Showcase mode, hosted by Paul Heyman, walks through The Bloodline's dynasty with both historic matches and dream "what-if" scenarios. MyGM now supports four-player online competition, letting you draft rosters and manage multi-week brand seasons against other GMs worldwide - a genuine strategic layer that strategy-minded players will find legitimately engaging. MyRise has been trimmed to a tighter 5-6 hour arc with branching choices and improved cutscene presentation. The obvious problem is The Island. It is the game's NBA 2K City equivalent: an open-world hub built around Roman Reigns's "Island of Relevancy" where your custom superstar competes for a WWE contract. The concept has potential. The execution has a 30fps cap in the hub, sluggish traversal that requires holding a trigger to even jog, and an economy where in-game currency rewards from matches are wildly mismatched against cosmetic costs that nudge you toward real-money spending. The story is told through flat text dialogue screens. Online multiplayer, pushed harder this year via The Island, carries noticeable lag because the developers have not implemented rollback netcode - a frustrating oversight in 2025. The Island is entirely skippable, but the game actively steers you toward it. Commentary with Michael Cole, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton is also overdue for a refresh. Character model quality varies strangely, with some superstars looking sharp in Showcase cutscenes and noticeably rougher elsewhere. For anyone treating WWE 2K25 as a pure offline sandbox - Showcase, MyGM, Universe mode, exhibition across the full match-type list - this is the strongest the series has been in years. The Deadman Edition specifically removes the grind friction on day one and bundles all post-launch content, which makes the mathematics straightforward for a committed wrestling fan. Casual players who mostly want couch multiplayer will find plenty to work with across Royal Rumbles, Elimination Chambers, TLC, War Games, and now Underground bouts. Just go in knowing The Island is a microtransaction funnel wearing a theme park costume, and mentally remove it from your calculation of what you are buying. Diego, Scout Team

Veredicto de GamerScout

Deadman Edition is the definitive way to buy 2K25 if you are committed to the series - just write off The Island entirely.
