Vox Populi: USA 2024

I spent a few hours with Vox Populi expecting something like a streamlined version of Political Machine or Victoria, but what I found was a skeleton of a sim. You pick or build a candidate, then allocate campaign resources across states and messaging angles to chase polling numbers and votes. The mechanics exist on paper, but there's not much here to sink your teeth into. The AI opponents feel inert, the feedback from your decisions is murky, and there's no clear feedback loop that teaches you why one approach works better than another. For a game about persuasion and strategy, it's oddly unpersuasive. The UI is functional but doesn't guide you toward interesting decisions, and the replayability hinges entirely on whether you find the novelty of alternative electoral scenarios engaging enough to carry you through. If you're desperate for a US politics sim and don't mind rougher edges, it's worth a shot on sale. Otherwise, wait for something with more systems depth.
