theHunter: Call of the Wild - Wild Goose Chase Gear (DLC)

Let's be precise about what this is: a DLC equipment pack for theHunter: Call of the Wild, not a standalone expansion with new maps or missions. Wild Goose Chase Gear drops dedicated waterfowl hunting tools into the base game, which means your value here is entirely conditional on how much time you're already logging in the core experience. If you're a returning hunter looking to round out your loadout for bird work, this fills a real gap. If you're on the fence about the base game, start there first.

TheHunter: Call of the Wild itself is one of the more thoughtful hunting simulations on PC. The wind system, animal behavior modeling, and sound design all interact in ways that reward patience over twitch reflexes. This is a game where reading terrain and planning approach routes matters more than reaction time, which puts it closer to strategy-sim territory than most people expect from a hunting title. The open worlds are large, the time-of-day cycles affect animal movement in meaningful ways, and the progression system gives you genuine build decisions around caller types, scents, and weapon selection. Goose-specific gear slots naturally into that framework, adding another layer of pre-hunt preparation.

The community and mod ecosystem around the base game are genuinely healthy, which matters for long-term replayability. Regular updates from Expansive Worlds have kept the simulation tuned, and the co-op functionality means you can run hunts with up to seven other players. The 89% positive rating across nearly 200,000 Steam reviews is a number that takes years and sustained developer attention to sustain, not a launch-week spike. That context is worth keeping in mind when evaluating any piece of DLC in this catalog.
