Ten species you won't find on any other map, a Bengal Tiger that hunts you back, and three climate zones stacked on top of each other, Sundarpatan is the most vertically ambitious reserve Expansive Worlds has shipped.

I loaded into Sundarpatan expecting another competent-but-samey reserve drop, and the altitude gradient alone changed my mind inside the first hour. The map is built around Nepal's three major biomes stacked vertically: the Himal high-mountain ridges up top, the Pahad rhododendron mid-hills in the middle, and the tropical Terai lowland forests at the base. Each zone plays differently enough that you genuinely have to re-calibrate your approach, open sightlines and wind exposure at altitude versus dense canopy and ambush geometry down in the sal forests. That structural variety is the map's strongest argument for itself. The species roster is the other headline. Thirteen animals in total, and ten of them are exclusive to this map. Returning faces include the Blackbuck, Water Buffalo, and Greylag Goose, all of which received model remasters alongside the DLC launch. The map-exclusives range from Blue Sheep and Barasingha to the Woolly-hair Muntjac and Tibetan Fox. The Tahr fills the Great One slot and is a legitimately demanding trophy target. Two predator species, the Bengal Tiger and the Snow Leopard, push the map into territory the base game rarely visits. The Snow Leopard functions more as a narrative device (the Fandom wiki notes a ghostly variant that cannot be killed), while the Bengal Tiger operates on a strict home-range system: sixteen individual territories, one tiger per range, which rewards patience and punishes players who expect prey-animal logic from an apex predator that actively hunts them back. The campaign storyline leans harder into personal drama and poaching than recent reserves did, which the community has broadly welcomed as a return to the tone of earlier maps. Non-hunting mission objectives, agriculture tasks, photography assignments, equipment repairs, pad the mission structure alongside proper hunting contracts. The 19th-century Gandhare Rifle arrives early via a story mission and gives the map a distinct loadout flavor, though experienced players will keep a modern rifle in the second slot for longer shots on the open ridges. The lack of a traditional boss animal is a mild structural gap compared to maps that use that mechanic as a long-term retention hook. On the reception side, the DLC-specific Steam page sits at 71 percent positive across roughly 475 reviews, lower than the base game's very positive aggregate but not alarming for a paid expansion. Common criticism centers on the Snow Leopard feeling underutilized given how prominently it features in the marketing, and on mission variety being uneven between the three biomes. Co-op works exactly as it does on every other reserve: drop in with up to three other players, shared world, no structural changes to mission progression. Anyone already comfortable with the base game's stalking loop will be fine; newcomers should note this is DLC that requires the base game before anything else loads. For the strategy-minded hunter, Sundarpatan's terrain is a genuine decision tree. Vertical position dictates wind direction, audible range, and which species are even accessible. The Tiger home-range system rewards map study in a way most reserves do not. If you have been hunting Cuatro Colinas or Te Awaroa until the spawn pools feel memorized, Nepal offers a different set of problems to solve. Diego, Scout Team

Veredicto de GamerScout

Worth it for COTW veterans ready for a mechanically distinct map; newcomers buy the base game first.
