Tex Murphy Under a Killing Moon is a full-motion video adventure game where you play a down-on-his-luck private eye navigating a cyberpunk future stuffed with conspiracies, aliens, and B-movie nonsense. The appeal here is straightforward: campy writing, real actors in cheap costumes, and dialogue trees that let you sass your way through scenes. Point-and-click exploration and inventory puzzles make up the bulk of the gameplay, which is functional but dated. The puzzles aren't punishing, and the story moves fast enough to keep you interested even when the production values make you squint. This is exactly what it promises: 1990s adventure gaming with a comedy tone that still lands. It's short, weird, and harmless. If you grew up with Sierra adventure games and don't mind laughing at rather than with the production, grab it. Everyone else should probably skip it.
