I went in expecting a serious murder mystery, but Taken Souls plays it much lighter than the premise suggests. You're detective James Voodoo investigating ritual murders in foggy London, except the game treats the supernatural elements as puzzle fodder and card-collection triggers rather than genuine creepy encounters. The trading-card system is the real draw here, collecting mystical cards ties into your ability to solve cases, which is a clever hook for a casual adventure. What works: the occult atmosphere and the card mechanics create an oddly cohesive vibe. What doesn't: the investigation itself feels thin, dialogue is minimal, and the whole thing plays more like a supernatural collectible card game than a detective story. At this price point and with no Steam reviews to guide expectations, it's a gamble. Worth it only if you're specifically hunting for a card-collecting adventure with paranormal flavor and don't mind forgiving thin plot work.
