Respawn's sequel does almost everything better than Fallen Order, but the Steam score tells a PC story - on Xbox Series X|S, this is the Cal Kestis game worth playing.

I came into Jedi: Survivor expecting a safe follow-up that polished the edges of Fallen Order and called it a day. What I got was a genuinely larger, more confident action-adventure that earns its runtime through smarter combat, better traversal, and a story with actual dramatic weight behind it. The combat is where Survivor separates itself most clearly. Five lightsaber stances - single blade, double blade, dual wield, crossguard, and a blaster hybrid - each carry their own skill tree and feel genuinely distinct in play. You equip two at a time and swap between them on the fly, which means you are constantly thinking about matchups: double blade for crowds, crossguard for tanky single targets that reward slow, bone-crunching swings, dual wield for players who want speed and aggression at the cost of taking more punishment when they slip up. The blaster stance, mixing a lightsaber with a ranged sidearm, is the wildcard that makes more sense than it should. Pairing any two of these at a meditation point and building out skill trees creates a light but satisfying build loop that keeps the combat fresh across a 20-plus hour campaign. Traversal got a serious upgrade too. The Ascension Cable functions like a grappling hook, snapping Cal to ledges and wall-running surfaces at speed. Rideable creatures open up shortcuts across the larger open zones, and fast travel between meditation points - absent in the first game - means the notorious backtracking problem is mostly addressed. The planet Koboh serves as a loose hub, with a cantina that slowly fills with NPCs as you rescue characters across the galaxy, giving the world a bit of earned life beyond combat arenas. Puzzles get creative with environmental hazards - sinking floors, timed lava-style surfaces, wind currents you manipulate mid-jump - and the best of them land genuine problem-solving satisfaction. Now for the honest part. The Steam review score sits at 71 percent Mostly Positive from over 85,000 reviews, and the gap between critic praise and player reception traces directly back to a rough PC launch defined by stuttering and crashes. On Xbox Series X|S, the picture is considerably cleaner. The console version does not carry the same optimization baggage, and years of post-launch patches have further smoothed things out. Some players still flag that the side content outstays its welcome, and the later hours can feel padded if you chase every collectible corner. The story also goes bigger in ways not everyone will find satisfying, leaning into reveals that feel operatic rather than grounded. But the core loop - combat, explore, unlock, repeat - holds together well on its own terms. If you finished Fallen Order and wanted more of that, Survivor is the more-of-that you were looking for, except built out in almost every direction. It is a confident action-adventure with one of the better lightsaber combat systems the franchise has produced, running on hardware that can actually handle it. Alex, Scout Team

Best for Fallen Order fans ready for a longer, more ambitious sequel - play it on console, not PC.
