If you ever wished No Man's Sky had a persistent MMO economy bolted onto it, SpaceCraft is exactly that experiment - warts, Early Access caveats, and all.

I went in expecting a solo-friendly space sandbox and came out the other side realizing SpaceCraft is a fundamentally different animal: a persistent online world where every resource node you claim, every trade you make, and every base you plant exists in a shared galaxy that never stops running. Shiro Games - the studio behind Northgard and Dune: Spice Wars - has clearly swung for something far more ambitious than their usual fare, and the ambition is both the game's biggest draw and its most glaring problem. The core loop revolves around a debt-repayment premise: your character won a lottery that dropped them into a distant galaxy owing everything to a corporation, and the road to freedom is paved with mining runs, ship design sessions, automated planetary bases, and interplanetary logistics chains. On paper that reads like the best parts of No Man's Sky mashed together with Satisfactory-style factory thinking. In practice, the automation layer - which should be the game's beating heart - currently works against itself. Manual crafting outpaces automated systems in raw speed, shuttles haul cargo slower than a player sprinting on foot, and the recycler behaves in ways that feel unintentional rather than designed. For a game that sells itself on logistics depth, having those systems feel vestigial at launch is a real problem. What does work is the scale. Planets look the part as spectacles, space station construction has genuine personality, and the player-driven economy - where every marketplace transaction nudges prices across the whole server - creates the kind of emergent stories that make MMO sandboxes worth tolerating. Finding a rich resource node before anyone else, or undercutting the market on a blueprint you automated early, produces moments of genuine satisfaction that pure single-player games rarely match. The MMO structure also means competition for prime base locations is real from day one, which gives early hours a tension that most crafting games lose entirely. The rough edges are hard to ignore. Visual presentation is competent but never striking - scale inconsistencies undercut what should be jaw-dropping moments, and the background music stutters at random. Voice acting exists and is serviceable, which in this genre is faint praise. CPU performance is a known ongoing concern that the developers are actively addressing, and a DLSS crash bug was still live as of recent patch notes. The community sentiment sits in "Mixed" territory on Steam, with long-term players noting that planet variety feels thin once the first-week novelty fades. SpaceCraft is the kind of Early Access title where the ceiling is genuinely exciting but the floor is genuinely frustrating. If Shiro Games applies the same steady post-launch polish they brought to their previous titles, the automation systems in particular could become something worth coming back for. Right now, though, you are buying into a promise as much as a product. Players who thrive in living economies and do not mind working around half-baked systems will find real hooks here. Anyone expecting a finished, solo-friendly crafting adventure should wait for a few more major updates before committing. Alex, Scout Team
