Dropping from orbit straight into a 40-player firefight is still one of the most immediately satisfying spawn mechanics in PC shooters - if you can find a populated server in 2026.

I've gone back to Section 8: Prejudice a few times over the years, and every session starts the same way: falling from the sky, watching the battlefield scroll up to meet me, picking a landing zone and hoping I don't get shredded by an anti-air turret on the way down. That freefall spawn system - choosing your drop point anywhere on the map from orbit - is the single thing this game does better than almost every contemporary shooter, and it still feels sharp. The rest of the package is rougher, but the ceiling on the multiplayer is genuinely high. The game ships with four multiplayer modes. Conquest is the centrepiece: two teams fight over Control Points while Dynamic Combat Missions (DCMs) fire off mid-match, asking you to assassinate a VIP, defend a convoy, or secure intel on top of the main objective. The DCMs are what prevent Conquest from feeling like a straight Battlefield clone - they create secondary priorities that split teams and force real decisions. Swarm is a four-player co-op wave mode where you defend a single control point for fifteen minutes, calling in vehicles and deployable turrets as resources allow. Assault and Skirmish round things out, the former being a timed attack-and-defend format with a sudden-death final phase, the latter a cleaner team deathmatch without capture mechanics. On PC, Conquest scales up to 40 players, which is a genuine differentiator over the console versions. The loadout system adds another layer. Players customise two primary weapons, secondary items (grenades, mortars, repair tools), and suit upgrades at supply depots mid-match. Active and passive ability slots let you lean into shields, speed, or firepower, and the overdrive super-sprint plus jetpack mean vertical play is always an option. The combat pace sits between a twitch shooter and something like early Battlefield - not frantic, but never slow. Reviewer consensus from launch positioned it as a Tribes-and-Battlefield hybrid, and that framing still holds. Where the game falls short is easy to list. The single-player campaign runs about five to six hours across eight missions through four terrain types, and it is the weakest piece of the package by some margin. The story follows Captain Alex Corde fighting the Arm of Orion colonial militia, and virtually no one remembers any of it. Voice acting is poor, environments repeat, and the narrative never gives you a reason to care. It works as a mechanics tutorial, which is genuinely its most useful function before jumping into multiplayer. Visually, the game was modest even at release - Unreal Engine 3, bland textures, nothing that impresses. The bigger practical concern in 2026 is server population. Games for Windows LIVE underpins the online component, all DLC is no longer available for purchase following the Games for Windows Marketplace shutdown, and finding a live Conquest lobby is not guaranteed. Bot fill exists in some modes, which softens that concern but does not eliminate it. If you are buying this primarily for the campaign or a solo experience, there are better options at any price. If you have a group of friends to run Swarm with, or if you can find a populated Conquest server, this is a genuinely clever shooter built around one of the best spawn mechanics the genre has produced. The fundamentals still hold up. The infrastructure around them, less so. Alex, Scout Team

Veredicto de GamerScout

Best for multiplayer-focused FPS fans with friends to fill a Swarm lobby - solo players and server-dependent Conquest have real caveats.
